travelling through Greensands

Since Summer 2024, we have been working alongside children and young people on a project focussed on the stories and identities of families living on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller sites in Greensand Country. We have been regularly visiting three sites collaborating with the community on a range of creative activities that explore culture, place and heritage. In June, as part of GRT History month we will be visiting local schools and taking their work on tour, with a co-curated exhibition in local libraries.

This project is funded by Historic England as part of their Everyday Heritage programme.

Tour Dates & Venues:

1st July – 8th July: Sandy Library

The exhibition will be accessible to the public to view during library opening hours.

We’ve had a wondeful time producing and leading the project and have been fortunate to collaborate with some amazing local artists:

Our next GRT project ‘In Tune’ is funded by Youth Music. We will be bringing a variety of new music experiences to young people living on GRT sites in Central Bedfordshire.

Apples and Lollipops was our first creative project with the GRT community, the video below captures the spirit of the project and our fantastic participants. This project was funded by The Ragdoll Foundation and was supported by Central Bedfordshire Council.
